UAE Visa on Arrival
The UAE issues a visa on arrival to citizens of select countries, providing an inexpensive and convenient solution. The length of these visas depends on the issuing country’s passport. In order to be eligible, travelers must have a passport valid for six months. Citizens of the following countries qualify for a 30-day visa:

Passport holders from these countries can obtain a UAE visa on arrival at no cost, and it is a single-entry visa.

A 180-day, multiple-entry visa on arrival is available to Mexican citizens who submit plane tickets and health insurance documents as well as a hotel reservation. But passport holders from India, for example, can obtain a 14-day visa on arrival if they possess documents such as a visit visa issued by the United States or green card; proof of holding residence in Britain or an EU member state. The cost of this visa is AED 120 (about USD 33).
A prearranged tourist visa is required for Indian passport holders who cannot provide the aforementioned documentation.
Prearranged Tourist Visas in the UAE
For nations not in the visa on arrival list, you’ll need to apply for a pre-arranged tourist visa. The options differ according to the duration of your stay in the UAE, and you passport must have at least three months until its expiry date.
To apply for a prearranged visa, you’ll typically need:
- A color copy of your passport.
- A color photograph of yourself
- An application form
Photocopy of your plane ticket
The fees for prearranged visas are as follows:
- 48-hour non-extendable visa: USD 10
- 96-hour non-extendable visa: USD 30
- Single-entry short-term tourist visa (extendable): US $ 90 (extension cost: US $ 230)
- Multiple-entry short-term tourist visa (30 days, extendable): US $ 175 (extension cost: US$ 230)
- Single-entry long-term tourist visa (90 days, extendable): USD 190 (extension fee:USD230)
- Multiple-entry long-term tourist visa (90 days, extendable): USD 460 (extension cost: US 230)
However, for people from Afghanistan, Iraq; Pakistan or Iran they may also need to provide some extra products such as the National ID card.
One-Year Remote Working Visa
The previous year, the UAE started issuing remote working visas. Digital nomads who work at home because of the outbreak could come to live in the UAE. Foreign staff and businessmen from all countries can apply for this visa.
In contrast with the usual rules, sponsorship by an Emirati national or employment in UAE do not apply; this eliminates those barriers to allow many more foreign workers into the visa program. But you should be clear that this visa does not provide permission to set up business in the UAE.
For those whose aim is to explore life in the UAE before setting up a business, then perhaps one-year of remote working would be an ideal choice. It doesn’t help one establish a business, but it provides an opportunity to meet people and see life in the countryside.
A remote working visa application fee is USD 287, but additional costs such as UAE health insurance and ID fees may apply. Overall costs probably will top USD 600. To apply for this visa, you’ll need a valid passport with at least six months until its expiration date and UAE health insurance.
Employees’ documents required are a certificate of employment, work contract valid for at least one year, statement that the salary is not less than US $ 500 per month over three months and proof from bank. Business owners must submit documents to certify business ownership for at least one year, that their average monthly income is no less than USD 5,000 and three months of bank statements.
Investor and Entrepreneur Residency Visas
If you are planning on setting up your business in the UAE, then perhaps Golden Visa is what it should be. This program is particularly suited to expat investors and entrepreneurs; it offers both 5-year visa options, as well as a 10-year option.
The Golden Visa program is different from other long-term UAE visas in that applicants don’t need a national sponsor. The winners are able to visit the UAE freely and may also add dependents including executives in their visa application.

Dubai Immigration Procedures
If you’ve got all the necessary visas and documentation, then immigration at Dubai airport is extremely smooth. This process is much like Dubai’s architectural innovation, and it requires cutting-edge technology.
When you arrive, instead of running into border patrolmen, you’ll walk through an electronic gate. With these e-gates you can enter your information and present a passport or other documents. The e-gate will also scan your retina.
It is, however unlikely that one will be selected for random screening. If so, then you must have your visa in hand. If you still need a hard copy of your visa confirmation number, then an AED 30 charge will be applied.
